0005 – After hours - The Velvet Underground (1969)

Escrita por Lou Reed, foi gravada em novembro de 1968, em Holywood, California e lançada em março de 1969 no disco chamado apenas de The Velvet Underground. Maureen Tucker cantou porque Lou Reed disse que a canção era inocente e pura demais pra ele mesmo poder cantar. O estilo parece com o estilo Tin Pan Alley, dos anos 30 e só tem ela cantando, Lou Reed no violão e Doug Yule no baixo. Foi regravada pelo R.E.M., pelo Blind Melon, por Meg White, por Anthony Kiedis e por Eddie Vedder, entre outros artistas.

Escrita por George Harrison, foi gravada em 25 e 26 de maio e 2 de junho de 1967 e lançada em 13 de janeiro de 1969 no disco Yellow Submarine. Fala sobre os temas do Verao do Amor de 1967. Foi gravada logo após o término do Sgt. Peppers.

George fala da sua experiencia com o LSD, embora tenha deixado o uso da droga logo após sua visita ao Haight-Ashbury em agosto de 1967.

George Harrison cantou, tocou orgao Hamond, guitarra solo, fez backing vocals e bateu palmas. John Lennon fez backing vocal, tocou guitarra solo e bateu palmas. Paul tocou baixo, sino de vaca, bateu palmas e fez backing vocals. Ringo tocou bateria e pandeiro. Músicos adicionais tocaram trompetes e clarinetes.

Escrita por Robbie Robertson, foi gravada em 1969 e lançda em 22 de setembro de 1969 no disco The Band.

É cantada em primeira pessoa do ponto de vista de um fazendeiro pobre que desesperado, conta o azar que tem caído sobre ele. Ele conta que não havia chuva e sua plantação morreu, seu celeiro queimou... Um líder sindicalista apareceu prometendo melhorar as coisas... e o narrador conta aos seus amigos que agora é um cara do sindicato... mas tem vergonha disso...

Pete disse que a canção foi inspirada em Street fighting man, dos Rolling Stones.

Roger Daultrey fez os vocais principais. Pete Townshend fez os backing vocals e tocou guitarra, teclado e bateria. John Entwistle tocou baixo e bateria. Keith Moon tocou bateria.

862 – The Beatles – Octopus's garden (1969)

Escrita por Ringo Starr, foi gravada em 26 e 29 de abril de 1969 e em 17 e 18 de julho de 1969 e lançada em 26 de setembro de 1969 no disco Abbey Road. Foi a segunda composição de Ringo. E foi a última canção lançada pelos Beatles que tinha Ringo nos vocais.

A idéia veio quando Ringo estava no barco de Peter Sellers na Sardinia em 1968. Ele pediu fish and chips pra almoçar mas veio Lula com chips. Foi a primeira vez que ele comeu lula. O capitão do barco então contou a ele como as Lulas andavam nos oceanos pegando pedras e objetos para construir jardins.

Ringo cantou, tocou bateria, percussão e efeitos sonoros. George harrison tocou guitarra solo e fez backing vocals. Paul tocu baixo, piano e fez backing vocals. John tocou guitarra ritmica e fez backing vocals.

Escrita por Michael Anthony and Michael Wilshaw, foi lançada em inglês em 1968 sob o nome de Waterloo road, gravada por Jason Crest.

A nossa versão, porém, teve letra em francês de Pierre Delanoë e foi gravada por Joe Dassin sob o titulo de Les Champs Élysées. Foi lançada em maio de 1960 em um compacto que tinha Le chemin du papa como Lado B.

Foi composta na Índia, inspirada em um sujeito avarento que escondia seu dinheiro pras pessoas não o forçarem a gastar. A irmã de Mustard era Pam, da música seguinte, Polythene Pam.

John cantou e fez backing vocals, tocou guitarra rítmica, piano e maracas. Paul fez backing vocals e tocou baixo. George Harrison tocou guitarra solo e Ringo tocou bateria e pandeiro.

857 – David Bowie – Space oddity (1969)

Escrita por David Bowie, foi gravada em 20 de junho de 1969 e lançada em 11 de julho de 1969 em um compacto que tinha Wild eyed bou from freecloud como Lado B. É uma das 500 canções que deram forma ao rock and roll do The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Foi inspirada pelo filme 2001 uma odisséia no esaço, de Stanley Kubrick, de 1968, a canção fala do lançamento ao espaço do Major Tom, um astronauta fictício e foi lançada num período de grande interesse no espaço. A Apollo 11 seria lançada em 5 dias depois que lançaram a música.

Rick Wakeman tocou mellotron, Mick Wayne tocou guitarra, Herbie Flowers tocou baixo, Terry cox tocou bateria, Toni Visconti tocou flauta e David Bowie tocou violão e fez os vocais principais e os backing vocals. Chegou ao número 5 nos charts britânicos. VH1 disse que ela era a número 60 das 100 maiores canções de rock. NME disse que ela era a númeo 26 dos maiores números 1 da história.

855 – The Beatles – Hey, bulldog! (1969)

Escrita por John Lennon mas creditada à dupla Lennon/McCartney, foi gravada em 11 de fevereiro de 1968 e lançada em 13 de janeiro de 1969 no disco Yellow Submarine. A exemplo de Lady Madonna, é uma das poucas músicas dos Beatles baseadas num riff de piano.

Foi uma das últimas gravações com a dinâmica de equipe dos Beatles. Depois disso já veio o Album Branco onde cada um gravou sua música praticamente. A linha de baixo que Paul criou foi uma das melhores que ele já fez. Também o solo de George Harrison, ele matou logo de cara.

Tanto John quanto Paul gostam muito dessa música.

854 – Crosby, Stills and Nash – Lady of the island (1969)

Escrita por Grham Nash, foi gravada em 11 de fevereiro de 1969 e lançada em 1969 no disco Crosby, Stills and Nash. Foi feita pra Joni Mitchell, que Nash estava envolvido na época.

O curioso é que Guinnevere, que já falamos aqui, também foi feita pra Joni Mitchell por David Crosby, que também estava envolvido com ela. Era o tempo do amor livre.

Graham Nash cantou e tocou violão. David Crosby fez backing vocals.
