2336 – Peter Tosh – Stop That Train (1983)

 

Escrita por Peter Tosh, “Stop That Train” foi gravada em 1982/1983 e lançada primeiro no álbum Mama Africa, o quinto álbum de estúdio solo de Peter Tosh, em 1983. A faixa foi lançada como single em 1983, com “Maga Dog” no lado B. A produção ficou por conta de Peter Tosh e Chris Kimsey. “Stop That Train” é uma das faixas mais marcantes do repertório solo de Peter Tosh. Na letra, ele pede para parar o trem da corrupção, da opressão e da injustiça social (“Stop that train, I’m leaving, stop that train”). É uma crítica forte ao sistema, ao colonialismo e à exploração do povo, com o tom rebelde e consciente típico do reggae roots. Musicalmente, a faixa tem um arranjo reggae roots poderoso, com baixo pesado, bateria skank, guitarra ritmada e os vocais marcantes de Tosh, cheios de soul e revolta.
