2153 – Squeeze – Tempted (1981)

Chris Difford tocou guitarra base. John Bentley tocou baixo. Gilson Lavis tocou bateria.

A letra:

I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste
A flannel for my face
Pajamas, a hairbrush
New shoes and a case
I said to my reflection
"Let's get out of this place"

Passed the church and the steeple
The laundry on the hill
Billboards and the buildings
Memories of it still
Keep calling and calling
But forget it all, I know I will

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on
Now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

I'm at the car park, the airport
The baggage carousel
(The people keep on grindin')
Ain't wishing I was well
I said it's no occasion
(It's no story I could tell)

At my bedside empty pocket
A foot without a sock
Your body gets much closer
I fumble for the clock
Alarmed by the seduction
I wish that it would stop

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on
Now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

I bought a novel, some perfume
A fortune all for you
But it's not my conscience
That hates to be untrue
I asked of my reflection
Tell me what is there to do?

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on
Now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

Your hair blows, the grass grows
Sun yellow, cloudless blue
Can't you tell, green angel
How I love you?

She's my lady of the flowers
She's a sweet herb with a healing way
She's my lady of the flowers
Perfuming my way.

Your hand plays with daisies
Birds sing and butterflies
Lips like wine, mellow time
In paradise.

She's my lady of the flowers
She's a sweet herb with a healing way
She's my lady of the flowers
Perfuming my way.

She's my lady of the flowers
She's a sweet herb with a healing way
She's my lady of the flowers
Perfuming my way.

Your hair blows, the grass grows
Sun yellow, cloudless blue
Can't you tell, green angel
How I love you?

She's my lady of the flowers
She's a sweet herb with a healing way
She's my lady of the flowers
Perfuming my way.

She's my lady of the flowers
She's a sweet herb with a healing way
She's my lady of the flowers
Perfuming my way.

A letra:

If there's doubt and you're cold,
don't you worry what the future holds.
We've gotta have heroes to teach us all
to never give up on a dream.

Claim the road, touch the sun,
no force on earth could stop you run.
When your heart bursts like the sun
never never give up on a dream.

Shadows fall, daylight dies,
freedom never got a place to hide.
Search forever photo finish line
but never give up on your dream.

Crazy notions fill your head,
you gotta break all the records set.
Push yourself until the end
but don't you ever give up on your dream.

Now listen to me
you don't need no restrictions yeah
Oh, sing it again
you can't live on sympathy.
You just need to go the distance,
oh the distance
that's all you need to be free,
to be free, to be free, to be free.

Sing a song for me children
you don't need no restrictions yeah
you can't live on sympathy.
You just need to go the distance,
that's all you need to be free,

Now listen to me!
Inspiring all to never lose,
it'll take a long long time before they fill your shoes
it'll take somebody, somebody, who's lot like you
who never gave up on a dream.
No, you never gave up on a dream
no, you never gave up on a dream.

You never, never, never,
never gave up on a dream.

A letra:

And when it hurts you know
They love to tell you
How they warned you
They say "Don't be surprised
At someone's lies"
They think they taunt you
But if you can stand the test
You know your worst is better
Than their best

And so you stand here
With the years ahead
Potentially calling
With open heart
Or with a spirit dead
You walk on

Love is the reason
Faith or treason
Playing a part
End concealing
Try revealing
Open your heart
Dare to feel
Take the chance
Make the deal

Being an island
Shying from trying
Seems the easy way
Such an easy way
But there's no future
Without tears

Love is the reason
Faith or treason
Playing a part
End concealing
Try revealing
Open your heart

But if you can stand the test
You know your worst is better than their best

Love is the reason
Faith or treason
Playing a part
End concealing
Try revealing
Open your heart

A letra:

The dogs are howling at the midnight moon.
I'm on my way to where the black rose blooms.
The mountain's high, the night is cold.
I feel the sunshine a black rose grows.

Together again, we're as common as sin, they say,
We just walk around the stones they throw.
Night after night, we steal away to where
Love don't see no colors in the shadows,
Love don't see no colors in the shadows.

Wind in the willows, wild and warm,
Just like the woman lying here in my arms.
The water's deep, cold and still.
I love the feeling that black rose gives.

Together again, we're as common as sin, they say,
We just walk around the stones they throw.
Night after night, we steal away to where
Love don't see no colors in the shadows,
Love don't see no colors in the shadows.

Together again, we're as common as sin, they say,
We just walk around the stones they throw.
Night after night, we steal away to where
Love don't see no colors in the shadows,
Love don't see no colors in the shadows.

Love don't see no colors in the shadows.

2148 – George Harrison – Save the world (1981)

George Harrison cantou, tocou guitarra, slide guitar, sintetizador, efeitos sonoros e fez backing vocals. Neil Larsen tocou teclado. Gary Brooker tocou sintetizador. Tom Scott tocou sax. Willie Weeks tocou baixo. Jim Keltner tocou bateria e Ray Cooper tocou percussão.

A letra:

We've got to save the world
Someone else may want to use it
So far we've seen
This planet's rape, how we've abused it
We've got to save the world

The Russians have the biggest share
With their long fingers everywhere
And now they've bombs in outer space
With laser beams and atomic waste

Rain forest chopped for paper towels
One acre gone in every hour
Our birds and wildlife all destroyed
To keep some millionaires employed

We've got to save the whale
Greenpeace they've tried to diffuse it
But dog food salesmen
Persist on kindly to harpoon it
We've got to save the world

The armament consortium
They're selling us plutonium
Now you can make your own H-bomb
Right in the kitchen with your mom

The nuclear power that costs you more
Than anything you've known before
The half-wit's answer to a need
For cancer, death, destruction, greed

We've got to save the world
Someone's children they may need it
So far we've seen
The big business of extinction bleed it
We've got to save the world

We're at the mercy of so few
With evil hearts determined to
Reduce this planet into hell
Then find a buyer and make quick sale

To end upon a happy note
Like trying to make concrete float
Is very simple knowing that
God in your heart lives

We've got to save the world
Someone else may want to use it
It's time you knew
How close we've come
We're gonna lose it
We gotta save, we gotta save, gotta save, the world

2147 – Elvis Costello – Big sister's clothes (1981)

A letra:

Sheep to the slaughter, oh I thought this must be love
All your sons and daughters, in a strangle hold with a kid glove
She's got eyes like saucers, oh you think she's a dish
She is the blue chip that belongs to the big fish

But it's easier to say "I love you"
Than "Yours sincerely"; I suppose
All little sisters like to try on big sister's clothes
Big sister's clothes

The sport of kings, the old queen's heart
The prince in darkness stole some tart
And it's in the papers, it's in the charts
It's in the stop press before it all starts

With a hammer on the slap and tickle under grisly garments
With all the style and finesse of the purchase of armaments
Compassion went out of fashion
That's all your concern meant
Sweat it out for thirty seconds on home improvements

But it's easier to say "I love you"
Than "Yours sincerely"; I suppose
All little sisters like to try on big sister's clothes
Big sister's clothes
Big sister's clothes
Big sister's clothes

2146 – The Cure – Primary (1981)

Assim, Robert Smith cantou e tocou baixo. Simon Gallup tocou baixo e Lol Tolhurst tocou bateria.

A letra:

The innocence of sleeping children
Dressed in white and slowly dreaming
Stops all time
I slow my steps and start to blur
So many years have filled my heart
I never thought I'd say those words

Further we go
And older we grow
The more we know
The less we show
Further we go
And older we grow
The more we know
The less we show

The very first time I saw your face
I thought of a song and quickly changed the tune
The very first time I touched your skin
I thought of a story and rushed to reach the end too soon

Oh, remember
Oh, please don't change

And so the fall came, thirteen years
A shiny ring, and how I could forget your name
The air no longer in my throat
Another perfect lie is choked
But it always feels the same

So they, close together
Dressed in red and yellow
Innocent forever
Sleeping children, in their blue soft rooms
Still dream

Further we go
And older we grow
The more we know
The less we show
Further we go
And older we grow
The more we know
The less we show

A letra:

Met a girl called Lola and I took her back to my place
Feelin' guilty, feelin' scared, hidden cameras everywhere
Stop! Hold on, stay in control

Girl, I want, you here with me
But I'm really not as cool as I'd like to be
'Cause there's a red, under my bed
And there's a little yellow man in my head
And there's a true, blue, inside of me
That keeps stoppin' me, touchin' ya, watchin' ya, lovin' ya

Paranoia, need destroyer, paranoia, they destroy ya'

Well I fell asleep, then I woke feelin' kinda' queer
Lola looked at me and said ooh you look so weird
She said man, there's really something wrong with you
One day you're gonna' self-destruct
You're up, get down, I'll come work you out
You get a good thing goin' then you blow yourself out

Silly boy ya self-destroyer, silly boy ya self-destroyer

Silly boy you got so much to live for
So much to aim for, so much to try for
You blow it all with, paranoia
You're so insecure you, self-destroyer

paranoia, they destroy ya
(Here it goes again) paranoia, they destroy ya

Doctor, Doctor, help her please I know you'll understand
There's a time device inside of me I'm a self-destructin' man
There's a red, under my bed
And there's a little green man in my head
And said you're not goin' crazy, you're just a bit sad
'Cause there's a man in ya, knawin' ya, tearin' ya, in to to

Silly boy ya self-destroyer, paranoia, they destroy ya

Self-destroyer, wreck your health
Destroy friends, destroy yourself
The time device of, self-destruction
Lies, confusion, start eruption

paranoia, they destroy ya
(Here's to paranoia) paranoia, they destroy ya
(Hey hey, here it goes) paranoia, they destroy ya
(And it goes like this)

Paranoia, they destroy ya (and it goes like this)

A letra:

Now the reason we're here
As man and woman
Is to love each other
Take care of each other
When love walks in the room
Everybody stand up
Oh it's good, good, good
Like Brigitte Bardot

Now look at the people
In the streets, in the bars
We are all of us in the gutter
But some of us are looking at the stars
I look round the room
Life is unkind
We fall but we keep gettin' up
Over and over and over and over and over and over

Me and you, every night, every day
We'll be together always this way
Your eyes are blue like the heavens above
Talk to me darlin' with a message of love

Now the reason we're here
Every man, every woman
Is to love each other
Stand by each other
When love walks in the room
Everybody stand up
Oh it's good, good, good
Say I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, oh

Talk to me darlin', talk to me darlin', talk to me darlin'

We'd like to do this one for all the original Pretenders fans
And also for the younger members of the audience
Thank you a lot, ahh

I know she's out with some another guy

Don't the sun look lonesome
Shading down behind the trees?
Don't the sun look lonesome
Shading down behind the trees?
But don't your house look lonesome
When your baby's packed to leave

Blow wind, blow wind
Blow my baby back to me
Blow wind, blow wind
Blow my baby back to me
Well you know if I don't soon find them
I will be in misery

Goodbye baby
That is all I have left to say
Goodbye baby
That is all I have left to say
But you have lost your good thing
Go ahead and have your own way

A letra:

He's fighting the forces of darkness limitation
Falsehood and mortality which bar him
The way back into the higher world
While his whole being is bewildered
He does not know no law of action
Taking refuge inside himself and he's saying

I need someone to show me
Illumine my consciousness
Remove the dark from in me
And give me that which I have lost

As all had seemed lost a light from Heaven
Breaking
A flash inward illumination
Enriched his life more than any words can tell
He stood there, life renewed fresh as rain
Scales were falling from his eyes again
The bolts of his prison opening he's saying

I found someone who showed me
Illumined my consciousness
Removed the dark from in me
And given me that which I have lost

You people don't have time to listen to him
You're too busy fighting revolutions
That keep you back down in the lower world
Your mirrors of understanding they need
Cleansing
Polish away the dust of desire
Before pure light will reflect in them

You need someone to show you
Illumine your consciousness
Remove the dark from in you
And give you that which you have lost.

Why can't I forget you girl, start loving someone new?
Instead I'm having sweet dreams all about you

Why can't I forget my past, start loving someone new?

Instead I'm having sweet dreams all about you

I used to think that when this was all over
You might feel different 'bout me
Yeah I always knew, one of these days you'd come around
Now I wonder if dreams are just dreams

Whoa oh, whoa oh oh
I'm having trouble
Letting you go
Whoa oh, whoa oh oh
I'm having trouble
Letting you go

Baby look out your window
It's raining on your summer home
You by the fire keeping warm and dry
There's no one as honest as those in pain
Oh honey can you see me?
Will you let me inside?

Whoa oh, whoa oh oh
I'm having trouble
Letting you go

Whoa oh, whoa oh oh
I 'm having trouble
Letting you go

It's a restless world, uncertain times
You said hope was getting hard to find
But time rolls on, days roll by
What about the broken ones?
What about the lonely ones?
Oh honey I'm having trouble letting you go

It's off in the distance somewhere up the road
There's some easy answer for the tears you've cried
And it makes me uneasy, makes me feel different
Do you get scared when you close your eyes?

Whoa oh, whoa oh oh
I'm having trouble
Letting you go
Whoa oh, whoa oh oh
I'm having trouble
Letting you go

Here's wishing you the bluest sky
And hoping something better comes tomorrow
Hoping all the verses rhyme
And the very best of choruses, too
Follow all the doubt and sadness
I know that better things are on the way

Here's hoping all the days ahead
Won't be as bitter as the ones behind you
Be an optimist instead
And somehow happiness will find you
Forget what happened yesterday
I know that better things are on the way

It's really good to see you rocking out
And having fun
Living like you've just begun
Accept your life and what it brings
I hope tomorrow you'll find better things
I know tomorrow you'll find better things

Here's wishing you the bluest sky
And hoping something better comes tomorrow
Hoping all the verses rhyme
And the very best of choruses, too
Follow all the doubt and sadness
I know that better things are on the way

I know you've got a lot of good things happening up ahead
The past is gone, it's all been said
So here's to what the future brings
I know tomorrow you'll find better things
I know tomorrow you'll find better things
I hope tomorrow you'll find better things
I know tomorrow you'll find better things
I hope tomorrow you'll find better things
