Escrita por David Bowie, foi gravada em 14 de maio de 1972 e lançada em 28 de julho de 1972 no compacto que tinha One of the boys como Lado B. Tambem foi lançada no disco de mesmo nome em 8 de setembro de 1972. Foi produzida pelo próprio David Bowie. Ele deu essa canção pra banda após eles recusarem gravar Suffragette City. A gravação do Mott the Hoople é o número 253 da lista da revista Rolling Stone das 500 greatest songs of all time. É também uma das 500 músicas que Shped rock and roll, do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. É considerada um hino do chamado Glam Rock.

Chegou ao número 3 nos charts britânicos e número 37 nos charts pop americanos. Também chegou ao número 31 no Canadá. Ian Hunter cantou e tocou piano. Mick Ralphs tocou violão, guitarra solo e fez backing vocals. Pete Overened Watts tocou baixo e fez backing vocals. Dale Griffin tocou pandeiro e bateria Verden Allen tocou orgao Hammond e fez backing vocals. David Bowie fez backing vocals. Stan Tippins fez backing vocals.
