Escrita por Mark Knopfler, Twisting by the Pool foi gravada em 1982 e lançada primeiro como single em fevereiro de 1983, com Two Young Lovers no lado B. A faixa foi incluída posteriormente na compilação ExtendedancEPlay. A produção ficou por conta de Mark Knopfler. Twisting by the Pool é uma divertida e descontraída canção de rockabilly com forte influência dos anos 50. Na letra Mark Knopfler descreve uma cena animada de férias na beira da piscina, com gente dançando, se divertindo, bebendo e vivendo o momento sem preocupações. É um contraste bem humorado com o tom mais sério e sofisticado que Dire Straits tinha na época, quase como uma brincadeira leve e veranil da banda.
