Mistake” é uma crítica política e social bem-humorada, mas afiada. Na letra,
Colin Hay ironiza a tensão da Guerra Fria, a corrida armamentista e a
possibilidade de um erro catastrófico que leve ao fim do mundo (“it’s a mistake
to think that we can control the fate of the human race”). É uma das músicas
mais inteligentes da banda, misturando sarcasmo com preocupação real sobre a
estupidez humana.
