A
letra:
Boy,
stupid boy Don't sit at the table Until you're able to
Toy, broken toy Shout shout You're
inside out
If you don't know Electric co. If
you don't know Electric co.
Red, running red Play for real The
toy could feel A hole in your head You go in shock You're
spoon-fed
If you don't know Electric co. If
you don't know Electric co.
If you don't know Electric co. If
you don't know Electric co. If you don't know Electric co. If
you don't know Electric co. If you don't know Electric co. If
you don't know Electric co.

A
letra:
I
see you walking, baby, down the street Pushing that baby carriage
at your feet I see that lonely ribbon in your hair Tell me am I
the man for whom you put it there You never smile girl, you never
speak You just walk on by, darling, week after week Raising two
kids alone in this mixed up world Must be a lonely life for a
working girl
Little girl, I wanna marry you Oh yeah, little
girl, I wanna marry you Yes I do Little girl, I wanna marry
you
Now, honey, I don't wanna clip your wings But a time
comes when two people should think of these things Having a home
and a family Facing up to their responsibilities They say in
the end true love prevails But in the end true love can't be some
fairytale To say I'll make your dreams come true would be
wrong But maybe, darling, I could help them along
Little
girl, I wanna marry you Oh yeah, little girl, I wanna marry
you Yes I do Little girl, I wanna marry you
My daddy
said right before he died That true, true love was just a lie He
went to his grave a broken heart An unfulfilled life, makes a man
hard
Oh darling There's something happy and there's
something sad 'Bout wanting somebody, oh so bad I wear my love
darling, without shame I'd be proud if you would wear my
name
Little girl, I wanna marry you Oh yeah, little girl, I
wanna marry you Yes I do Little girl, I wanna marry you Little
girl, I wanna marry you Oh yeah, little girl, I wanna marry
you Yes I do Little girl, I wanna marry you

A
letra:
Live
with me, live with me Live with me, live with me Live with
me.
Lost in space I heard you were lost in space That's
such a lonely place for you to be.
Out of control Singin'
with too much soul I heard you got out on parole Workin' for
the queen.
Gardening again Landscape again Keepin' all
the grounds around her clean Workin' for the queen.
Don't
take out the magic pen Don't draw on the infinity board Your
buildings, if they rise again Would do much better on the ocean
floor They'll never feel the way they did before They did
before.
Out on the ocean floor, out on the ocean floor What
could be stranger than the unknown danger That lies on the
ocean floor?
Breakers crash on the beach I count them like
lambs in my sleep They come at me steady They know I'm not
ready They pound on my mattress door Have they got a big one in
store.
Losing you I heard I was losing you That's not
the only thing that I got to lose I got to lose The deep sea
blues Look at these blues The deep sea blues

A
letra:
I
don't wanna talk About things we've gone through Though it's
hurting me Now it's history
I've played all my cards And that's
what you've done too Nothing more to say No more ace to play
The winner takes it all The loser's
standing small Beside the victory That's her destiny
I was in your arms Thinking I
belonged there I figured it made sense Building me a fence
Building me a home Thinking I'd be
strong there But I was a fool Playing by the rules
The gods may throw a dice Their
minds as cold as ice And someone way down here Loses someone
dear
The winner takes it all (takes it
all) The loser has to fall (has to fall) It's simple and it's
plain (it's so plain) Why should I complain? (Why complain?)
But tell me, does she kiss Like I
used to kiss you? Does it feel the same When she calls your
name?
Somewhere deep inside You must know
I miss you But what can I say? Rules must be obeyed
The judges will decide (will
decide) The likes of me abide (me abide) Spectators of the show
(of the show) Always staying low (staying low)
The game is on again (on again) A
lover or a friend (or a friend) A big thing or a small (big or
small) The winner takes it all (takes it all)
I don't wanna talk If it makes you
feel sad And I understand You've come to shake my hand
I apologize If it makes you feel
bad Seeing me so tense No self-confidence But you see
The winner takes it all The winner
takes it all
So the winner takes it all And the
loser has to fall Throw the dice, cold as ice Way down here,
someone dear Takes it all, has to fall And it's plain, why
complain?

Young
teacher, the subject Of schoolgirl fantasy She wants him so
badly Knows what she wants to be
Inside him, there's longing This
girl's an open page Book marking, she's so close now This girl
is half his age
Don't stand, don't stand so Don't
stand so close to me Don't stand, don't stand so Don't stand so
close to me
Her friends are so jealous You know
how bad girls get Sometimes it's not so easy To be the
teacher's pet
Temptation, frustration So bad it
makes him cry Wet bus stop, she's waiting His car is warm and
dry
Don't stand, don't stand so Don't
stand so close to me Don't stand, don't stand so Don't stand so
close to me
Loose talk in the classroom To hurt
they try and try Strong words in the staff room The accusations
fly
It's no use, he sees her He starts
to shake and cough Just like the old man in That book by
Nabokov
Don't stand, don't stand so Don't
stand so close to me Don't stand, don't stand so Don't stand so
close to me
Don't stand, don't stand so Don't

Come
closer and see See into the trees Find the girl While you
can
Come closer and see See into the
dark Just follow your eyes Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice Calling my name The
sound is deep In the dark
I hear her voice And start to
run Into the trees Into the trees
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop But I know it's too
late I'm lost in a forest All alone
The girl was never there It's always
the same I'm running towards nothing Again and again and again
and again...

Bright
morning lights Wipe the sleep from another day's eye Turn away
from the wall And there's nothing at all Being naked and
afraid In the open space of my bed
I'll be with you now I'll be with
you now I'll be with you now We lie on a cloud We lie
Just as I am I awoke with a tear on
my tongue I awoke with a feeling of never before In my sleep I
discover the one But she ran with the morning sun
I'll be with you now I'll be with
you now I'll be with you now We lie on a cloud We lie
Another time, another place We
lie Another child has lost the race We lie
Another time, another place We
lie Your time, your price
We lie Another time, another
place We lie Another child has lost
We lie Another time, another
place We lie Your time, your place

Station Studios, em New York City, e lançada no disco The River, o
Springsteen, Jon Landau e Steven Van Zandt.
Darkness on the edge of town. Foi tocada pela primeira vez na
California, no dia 7 de julho de 1978. Bruce tocou também nesse dia
pela primeira vez a música Independence day.
esperando a chuva passar.
do welfare.
Voce começa a
Bruce cantou e tocou
guitarra. Roy Bittan tocou piano. Clarence Clemons tocou triangulo e
guiro. Danny Federici tocou orgao. Garry Tallent tocou baixo. Steven
Van Zandt tocou guitarra e fez harmonias vocais. Max Weinberg tocou
bateria.

letra:
Do
you still say your prayers, little darling? Do you go to bed at
night Praying that tomorrow Everything will be alright? But
tomorrows fall in number In number one by one You wake up and
you're dying You don't even know what from
Well, they shot
you point blank You been shot in the back Baby, point blank You
been fooled this time, little girl, that's a fact Right between
the eyes Baby, point blank Right between the pretty lies that
they tell Little girl, you fell
You grew up where young
girls They grow up fast You took what you were handed And
left behind what was asked But what they asked, baby, wasn't
right You didn't have to live that life I was gonna be your
Romeo You were gonna be my Juliet These days you don't wait on
Romeos You wait on that welfare cheque And on all the pretty
little things that you can never have And all the promises
That
always end up point blank Shot between the eyes Point
blank Like little white lies you tell to ease the pain You're
walking in the sights, girl Of point blank And it's one false
move And baby, the lights go out
Once I dreamed we were
together again Baby, you and me Back home in those old
clubs The way we used to be We were standing at the bar It
was hard to hear The band was playing loud And you were
shouting something in my ear You pulled my jacket off And as
the drummer counted four You grabbed my hand And pulled me out
on the floor You just stood there and held me Then you started
dancing slow And as I pulled you tighter I swore I'd never let
you go Well, I saw you last night Down on the avenue Your
face was in the shadows But I knew that it was you You were
standing in the doorway Out of the rain You didn't answer When
I called out your name You just turned and then you looked
away Like just another stranger waiting to get blown away
Point
blank Right between the eyes Point blank Right between the
pretty lies you fell Point blank Shot straight through the
heart Yeah, point blank You've been twisted up 'Til you've
become just another part of it Point blank You're walking in
the sights Point blank Living one false move Just one false
move away Point blank They caught you in their sights Point
blank Did you forget how to love, girl? Did you forget how to
fight? Point blank They must have shot you in the head 'Cause
point blank Bang bang, baby, you're dead

A
letra:
Up and down the old
homestead The naked rider gallops through his head And although
the moon isn't full He still feels the pull
Out on the floor where the cowboys
dance Approaching slowly at a glance Here comes the shadow of
his stance The reins are fallin' from his hands
Why do you ride that crazy
horse? Inquires the shadow with little remorse Just then a
priest comes down the stairs With a sack of dreams and old
nightmares
Who are you, the rider says You
dress in black but you talk like a Fed You spout ideas from books
that you read Don't you care about this guy's head?
Just then the sound of hoof beats was
heard And the sky was darkened by a prehistoric bird Who flew
between the unfulfilled moon And the naked rider, to a telephone
booth
We'll call the moon and see what's
up I've got some change in this little tin cup We'll say that
the shadow is growin' dim And we need some light to get back to
him Just one call should do it all I'll carve this number on
the wall With my beak
Flying feathers were all around The
air was filled with a ringing sound Two more birds, the second and
the third Came down from the sky to deliver the word
Where have you been, they said to the
first Get back to the clouds, we're dying of thirst There's not
enough time to make that call Let's ditch this rider, shadow and
all
The sky was filled with the beautiful
birds Still on the ground some crying was heard With his dime
in his hand and his hand on the dial His ears were sweating as he
forced a smile
Hoof beats beating across the range He
rode through the night with his cup of change Tired and beaten he
fell into slumber But up in the sky they still had his number
Up and down the old homestead The
naked rider gallops through his head And although the moon isn't
full He still feels the pull Still feels the pull

letra:
I
wasn't jealous before we met Now every woman I see is a potential
threat And I'm possessive, it isn't nice You've heard me saying
that smoking was my only vice
But now it isn't true Now everything
is new And all I've learned has overturned I beg of you
Don't go wasting your emotion Lay
all your love on me
It was like shooting a sitting duck A
little small talk, a smile, and baby I was stuck I still don't
know what you've done with me A grown-up woman should never fall
so easily
I feel a kind of fear When I don't
have you near Unsatisfied, I skip my pride I beg you, dear
Don't go wasting your emotion Lay
all your love on me Don't go sharing your devotion Lay all your
love on me
I've had a few little love affairs They
didn't last very long and they've been pretty scarce I used to
think I was sensible It makes the truth even more incomprehensible
'Cause everything is new And
everything is you And all I've learned has overturned What can
I do?
Don't go wasting your emotion Lay
all your love on me Don't go sharing your devotion Lay all your
love on me
Don't go wasting your emotion Lay
all your love on me Don't go sharing your devotion Lay all your
love on me Don't go wasting your emotion Lay all your love on

train is coming our way The Zion train is coming our way Oh,
people, get on board! (You better get on board!) Thank the Lord
(Praise Fari) I gotta catch a train, 'cause there is no other
station Then you going in the same direction (Ooh-ooh)
Zion train is coming our way The
Zion train is coming our way
Which man can save his brother's soul?
(Save your brother's soul) Oh man, it's just self control
(Oo-hoo-oo!) Don't gain the world and lose your soul (Just don't
lose your soul) Wisdom is better than silver and gold To the
bridge (Ooh-ooh!)
Oh, where there's a will There's
always a way Where there's a will There's always a way (Way,
way, way, way)
Soul train is coming our way, er! Zion
train is coming our way
Two thousand years of history
(History) Could not be wiped away so easily Two thousand years
of history (Black history) Could not be wiped so easily (Could not
be wiped so easily)
Oh, children, Zion train is comin' our
way, get on board now! They said the Zion train is comin' our
way You got a ticket, so thank the Lord!
Zion train is Zion train is Zion
train is Zion train
They said the soul train is coming our

1980, no disco The River, o quinto de Bruce.
Bruce
disse que o coração e a alma do disco eram Independence day, Point
blank, Stolen car e The River.
A canção é
cantada do filho falando pro pai. Começa com a frase: “Papa go to
bed now, it's getting late”, mudando a ordem natural que era o pai
dizendo isso pro filho. O filho então reconhece que apesar de
algumas similaridades, eles dois brigam demais e é hora do filho
partir.
1977. Bruce cantou e tocou guitarra. Roy Bittan tocou piano. Clarence
Clemons tocou sax e pandeiro. Danny Federici tocou orgão. Gary
Tallent tocou baixo. Steve Van Zandt tocou guitarra. Max Weinberg
tocou bateria.
A
letra:
Well
Papa go to bed now it's getting late Nothing we can say is gonna
change anything now I'll be leaving in the morning from St. Mary's
Gate We wouldn't change this thing even if we could somehow Cause
the darkness of this house has got the best of us There's a
darkness in this town that's got us too But they can't touch me
now And you can't touch me now They ain't gonna do to me What
I watched them do to you
So say goodbye it's Independence
Day It's Independence Day All down the line Just say goodbye
it's Independence Day It's Independence Day this time
Now I
don't know what it always was with us We chose the words, and
yeah, we drew the lines There was just no way this house could
hold the two of us I guess that we were just too much of the same
kind
Well say goodbye it's Independence Day It's
Independence Day all boys must run away So say goodbye it's
Independence Day All men must make their way come Independence
Day
Now the rooms are all empty down at Frankie's joint And
the highway she's deserted clear down to Breaker's Point There's a
lot of people leaving town now Leaving their friends, their
homes At night they walk that dark and dusty highway all
alone
Well Papa go to bed now, it's getting late Nothing we
can say can change anything now Because there's just different
people coming down here now and they see things in different ways And
soon everything we've known will just be swept away
So say
goodbye it's Independence Day Papa now I know the things you
wanted that you could not say But won't you just say goodbye it's
Independence Day I swear I never meant to take those things away
Escrita
Neil. Foi produzida por Elliot Mazer, Tim Mulligan e Neil Young. Na
gravação, só temos Neil tocando violão e cantando. Nenhum outro
A
letra:
I
am a young mariner headed to war I'm thinking about my family and
what it was for There's water on the wood and the sails feel
good And when I get to shore I hope that I can kill good
My father was a sailor named Captain
Kennedy He lost his wooden schooner to the Germans on the
sea Exploded on the water for everyone to see And humiliate
that American Captain Kennedy
I saw him in Nassau in nineteen-seventy
one His strength was failing but he still ran a run He worked
until his fingers wore to the bone To buy that wooden schooner and
sail on his own
He was known in the islands as hundred
foot iron That steel hull freighter was passing its time And
time flew by faster with life on the sea And the days grew shorter
for Captain Kennedy
I am a young mariner headed to war I'm
thinking about my family and what it was for There's water on the
wood and the sails feel good And when I get to shore I hope
that I can kill good
