495 – The Who – The Kids are alright (1965)

Escrita por Pete Townshend, foi gravada pelo The Who em 13 de outubro de 1965 e lançada no disco de estréia deles, My Generation. Quando lançada como compacto, não teve muito sucesso, ficando em 41 no Reino Unido e 85 nos charts pop americanos. Mesmo assim, se tornou um hino para o grupo e para a subcultura inglesa dos anos 60.

Em 1979, deu nome ao documentário sobre a banda. Em 2000, Pete Townshend disse que quando escreveu essa canção, ele era apenas um garoto, tentando descobrir o que era certo ou errado nessa vida. Ele disse que usou de tudo e bebeu de tudo e que não tinha nada que ele nao tivesse experimentado. Mas que até hoje, de alguma forma, ele ainda estava bem.

Foi regravada pelo Goldfinger, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Belle and Sebastian, Keith Moon, entre outros.

O Offspring gravou uma canção chamada The kids aren't alright. Urge Overkill gravou uma chamada The kids are insane.
