superman é tida como um dos clássicos de sua era. Chegou ao número
1 dos charts pop americanos e se tornou o título do terceiro disco

música de Donovan a chegar ao número 1 nos charts pop americanos.
Foi tambem número 2 na Australia, 11 na Belgica, 2 no Canadá, 9 na
França, 7 na Alemanha, 4 na Irlanda, 54 na Italia, 2 na Holanda,
É um dos
primeiros exemplo do genero musical que ficou conhecido como
Psicodelia, que mistura estilos de folk psicodélico, pop psicodélico
e folk rock. Donovan tocou violão, tambura e cantou. Jimmy Page e
Eric Ford tocaram guitarra elétrica. John Cameron tocou harpsichord
e fez os arranjos. Spike Heatley tocou baixo. Bobby Orr tocou
bateria. Tony Carr percussão e John Paul Jones tocou baixo.
