2168 – Rush – Tom Sawyer (1981)

Escrita pelo Rush e Pye Dubois, foi gravada entre outubro e novembro de 1980, e lançada em 12 de fevereiro de 1981, no disco Moving pictures, o oitavo da banda. Saiu também em compacto, com Witch hunt no Lado B, em maio de 1981. Foi produzida por Rush e Terry Brown. Geddy Lee, o cantor, baixista e tecladista da banda, disse que é uma canção que define a banda. O site drumeo.com disse que é a maior “air-drumming song of all time”. Tom Sawyer surgiu na fazenda de Ronnie Hawkins, perto de Toronto. Neil Peart conheceu o poema de Pye Dubois chamado Louis the lawyer, que ele modificou e expandiu. Então Lee e Lifeson musicaram o poema. Neil disse que poema original era o retrato de um rebelde moderno, que lutava contra o mundo atual. Neil então acrescentou elementos de reconciliação desse rebelde com o homem dentro dele e as diferenças entre o que as pessoas são e o que o mundo percebem que elas são. Geddy Lee cantou, tocou teclado e baixo. Alex Lifeson tocou guitarra e Neil Peart tocou bateria. Chegou ao número 24 no Canadá, número 25 no Reino Unido e número 44 no Billboard Hot100.
