Escrita por Rod Stewart, Carmine Appice, Duane Hitchings e Kevin Savigar, foi gravada em 1981 e lançada em 9 de outubro de 1981, no compacto que tinha Tora Tora Tora (Out with the boys) como Lado. Sairia também no disco Tonight i'm yours, o décimo primeiro disco de Rod ,em 6 de novembro de 1981. Foi produzida por Rod Stewart e Jim Cregan. Tem um som synth-pop e new wave, influciando pela banda Devo. O termo “Young turks” se origina do começo do século 20, do partido de mesmo nome, de reforma nacionalista. É tambem uma gíria pra jovem rebelde que age contrário ao que é considerado normal em uma sociedade. A fras Young turks não é ouvida na canção. Young hearts, be free tonight é o refrão. Chegou ao número 5 no Billboard Hot100, número 11 no Reino Unido, número 1 em Israel e Canadá, número 2 na África do sul, número 3 na Austrália, número 4 na Bélgica, número 9 na Irlanda e Holanda, número 19 na Nova Zelandia, número 23 na Itália e número 30 na Alemanha Ocidental. Rod Stewart cantou e fez backing vocals. Kevin Savigar tocou clavinet e sintetizador. Duane Hitchings tocou piano elétrico e sintetizador. Jim Cregan tocou guitarra solo e fez backing vocals. Jhay Davis tocou baixo. Carmine Apice tocou hit-hat, fez backing vocals e programou o Oberheim DMX. Linda Lewis fez backing vocals.
