341 – Gerry and The Pacemakers – Don’t let the sun catch your crying (1964)

Escrita por Gerry Marsden, Freddie Marsden, Les Chadwick e Les Maguire, foi lançada em abril de 1964, em um compacto que tinha Show me that you care no Lado B. Os compositores são os membros do grupo. Foi primeiramente gravada por Louise Cordet e só depois gravada pelo grupo. 

Louise Cordet havia feito uma excursao com o grupo e com os Beatles. A versao delas foi produzida por Tony Meehan e lançada pela Decca em fevereiro de 1964. Entao eles decidiram gravar sua propria versao. 

Foi no quinto compacto simples no Reino Unido. A versao deles chegou ao numero 6 dos charts britanicos. Nos Estados Unidos chegou ao numero 4 nos charts pop americanos. Foi produzido pelo genio George Martin, o mesmo produtor dos Beatles.

Gerry and The Pacemakers tocaram essa cancao na primeira apresentacao deles na TV dos Estados Unidos, no Ed Sullivan Show, em 3 de maio de 1964. Don’t let the sun catch you crying foi o maior hit deles nos Estados Unidos. 

Foi regravada por Jose Feliciano em 1968, Gloria Estefan em 1994, entre outros artistas.
