302 – Herman’s Hermits – I’m into something good (1964)

Escrita por Carole King e Gerry Goffin, foi feito famosa pelos Herman’s Hermits em 1964, apesar de ter sido lançada originalmente por Earl-Jean, das Cookies e ter chegado ao número 38 dos charts pop americanos em 1964. 

 

Mas pouco tempo depois, no compacto de estreia, os Herman’s Hermits lançaram e chegaram ao número 1 no Reino Unido, em 14 de setembro de 1964, ficando lá por duas semanas. Chegou ao número 13 nos Estados Unidos. Teve os arranjos do guitarrista dos Hermits Derek Lecknby. 

Herman’s Hermits lançaram sua versao no top da Invasao Britanica, ao mesmo tempo que Carole King e Gerry Goffin estavam com medo de ficarem obsoletos, uma vez que todos da Invasao Britanica escreviam suas proprias músicas. Foi bom pra todos os envolvidos. 

O vocalista dos Hermits Peter Noone gravou uma versao em 1988, que entrou no filme The Naked Gun: From the files of Police Squad. Em 2008, Brian Wilson dos Beach Boys gravou uma versao com Carole King. Marianne Faithfull gravou uma versao em 2002, chamando apenas de Something good.
