1902 – Pink Floyd – Mother (1979)

 

Escrita por Roger Waters, foi gravada entre abril e novembro de 1979 e lançada em 30 de novembro de 1979 no disco The wall, o décimo primeiro disco da banda. Foi produzida por Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Bob Ezrin e James Guthrie. Nick Mason não conseguiu tocar a bateria, devido à dificuldade da composição. Quem tocou foi Jeff Porcaro, um baterista de estúdio. O disco inteiro fala de Pink, um rock star alienado. A canção Mother fala que a alienação dele vem grande parte por ter sido criado por uma superprotetora mãe solteira, que perdeu o marido e pai de Pink na segunda guerra mundial. A canção é na verdade uma conversa entre Pink e sua mãe, cantada por David Gilmour. A mãe de Pink está ajudando-o a contruir o muro, pra protegê-lo do mundo exterior. David Gilmour canta o refrão, violão e guitarra. Roger Waters canta os versos, violão e baixo. Bob Ezrin tocou harmonium, orgão Hammond e piano. Jeff Porcaro tocou bateria.
