Gates escreveu a música após ver o filme Breakfast at Tiffany's, com Audrey Hepburn.


Foi regravada por Perry Como, entre outros artistas. A atriz Aubrey Plaza recebeu seu nome por causa dessa música.

1291 – The Allman Brothers Band – Melissa (1972)


Escrita por Gregg Allman, foi gravada em 9 de dezembro de 1971 nos Criteria Studios, em Miami, Florida. Foi lançada em 12 de fevereiro de 1972 no disco Eat a peach e depois foi lançada em um compacto que tinha Blu sky como Lado A. Gregg escreveu-a em 1967, antes de formar a banda. Foi gravada em homenagem à Duane, que considerava a melhor canção do irmão. Duane morreu num acidente de moto seis semanas antes da gravação de Melissa.
