1112 – Leonard Cohen – Joan of Arc (1971)

Escrita por Leonard Cohen, foi gravada em setembro de 1970 nos estúdios da Columbia em Nashville e lançada em março de 1971 no disco Songs of love and hate.

A canção é construída basicamente de um diálogo entre Joana D'Arc e o fogo que a consumiu quando ela foi queimada na estaca, depois de ter sido acusada de heresia em 1431. Na canção, ela diz que está cansada da guerra e diz que ela prefereria estar usando uma vestido de casamento branco (uma das coisas que diziam sobre ela, é que ela se vestia como um homem).

Foi regravada por Judy Collins e Jennifer Warnes, entre outros artistas.

Escrita por Kris Kristofferson e Fred Foster, foi gravada inicialmente por Roger Miller. A nossa versão no entanto é a de Janis Joplin, lançada depois que ela morreu no disco Pearl e em um compacto que chegou ao número 1 dos charts pop americanos em 1971, se tornando a segunda canção póstuma da história a chegar ao número 1. A primeira foi Sitting on The dock of the bay, de Otis Redding.

Escrita por Janis Joplin, Michael McClure e Bob Neuwirth, foi gravada em 1 de outubro de 1970 e lançada em janeiro 11 de 1971 no disco Pearl. Foi gravada a cappella. A cantora pede a Deus que prove seu amor por ela se ele der um Mercedes-Benz pra ela, uma tv a cores e uma noite na cidade.

Foi escrita no Vahsen's, um bar em Port Chester, New York, em 8 de agosto de 1970 durante um jam de poesia entre Janis e Bob Neuwirth. Janis morreu três dias depois de gravar essa canção. Ela morreu em 4 de outubro de 1970. Nunca viu o lançamento do disco.

O compacto foi o mais vendido da carreira solo de John Lennon, sua letra encoraja as pessoas para um mundo de paz sem fronteiras, divisoes, religioes ou nacionalidades e para considerar a possibilidade que a humanidade inteira poderia viver sem posses materais. 1100 – Clarence Carter – Patches (1970)

Escrita por Ron Dunbar e General Johnson, foi inicialmente gravada pelo Chairmen of the Board, mas a nossa versão é a de Clarence Carter, lançada em julho de 1970 em um compacto que tinha Say it one more time como Lado B. Ganhou um Grammy na cateoria de Best Rhythm and Blues Song.

A canção conta a história de um menino que morava numa fazenda, nascido e criado em Alabama, na pobreza, que ficou responsavel pela familia depois que o pai morreu. Junior Lowe tocou guitarra, Jesse Boyce tocou baixo e Freeman Brown tocou bateria. Chegou ao número 4 nos charts pop americanos, número 2 nos charts de R&B e número 2 no Reino Unido, além de número 4 na Irlanda.

Foi regravada por George Jones e B.B. King, em 1994, entre outros artistas. No Brasil, os Titãs fizeram
uma versão de muito sucesso chamada de Marvin, que por sua vez foi regravada por Paulo Ricardo, Jeito Moleque e Biquini Cavadão.

Escrita por David Gates, foi gravada em 1970 e lançada em abril de 1970 no compacto que tinha Why do you keep me waiting como Lado B. Apenas Gates e o baterista Mike Botts estão na gravação da canção.

Chegou ao número 1 dos charts pop americanos. Chegou também ao número 5 no Reino Unido, número 2 no Canadá, número 7 na Australia e número 6 na Nova Zelandia.

Foi regravada por Cilla Black, entre outros artistas.

1098 – Christie – Yellow river (1970)

Escrita por Jee Christie, foi lançada em 23 de abril de 1970 em um compacto que tinha Down the Mississippi line como Lado B. Foi primeiro oferecida a banda Tremeloes, que gravaram mas decidiram não lançar.

Então tiraram os vocais do Tremeloes e adicionaram o vocal de Jeff Christie, aproveitando o instrumental já gravado do Tremeloes.

Chegou ao número 1 no Reino Unido, Finlandia Irlanda, Noruega e México. Número 2 na Alemanha e Nova Zelandia. Chegou também ao número 23 nos charts pop americanos.

Foi regravada pelo R.E.M., Elton John e Joe Dassin, entre outros artistas.
