Escrita por Don Henley, Glenn Frey e J.D. Souther, foi gravada entre março e outubro de 1976 e lançada no compacto que tinha Victim of Love como Lado B, em 7 de dezembro de 1976. Sairia também no LP Hotel California, o quinto da banda, um dia depois, em 8 de dezembro de 1976. Foi produzida por Bill Szymczyk. Chegou ao número 1 do Billboard Hot 100 e número 20 no Reino Unido, além de número 1 no Canadá, número 6 na Nova Zelandia, número 8 na Espanha, número 9 na Noruega e Holanda, número 12 na Irlanda, número 16 na Australia, número 19 na Bélgica e número 44 na Alemanha Ocidental. Frey canta os vocais principais e Henley faz os vocais da harmonia. Randy Meisner tocou guitarra mexicana, Don Felder toca guitarra e Joe Walsh toca piano e orgão. Ganhou um Grammy de Melhor Arranjo Vocal pra duas ou mais vozes. Souther escreveu o refrão, a banda gostou m as não sabiam o que fazer com ele. Um ano depois, conseguiram terminar. Fala das mudanças da vida, principalmente do music business. Onde constantemente estão mudando os ídolos e isso é uma analogia pra vida em sim, estamos sempre trocados por outra pessoa que vem atrás da gente. Como o sentimento de perda quando sua namorada arranja alguém melhor e segue a vida dela. Glenn Frey cantou e tocou violão. Joe Walsh tocou piano elétrico Fender Rhodes e orgão Hammond, além de ter feito backing vocals. Don Felder tocou guitarra solo e fez backing vocals. Randy Meisner tocou baixo, guitarra mexicana e fez backing vocals. Don Henley tocou bateria, percussão, e fez backing vocals e harmonias vocais.
