Jackson Browne havia recebido um livro sobre faroeste no seu aniversário e mostrou pros amigos dos Eagles. Lançada em compacto em novembro de 1974, a canção chegou ao número 19 do Billboard Hot100. É a canção de número 3 da lista da Guitar World das 100 greatest guitar solos.
