1423 – Jackson Browne – Fountain of sorrow (1974)

A letra:

Looking through some photographs I found inside a drawer
I was taken by a photograph of you
There were one or two I know that you would have liked a little more
But they didn't show your spirit quite as true

You were turning 'round to see who was behind you
And I took your childish laughter by surprise
And at the moment that my camera happened to find you
There was just a trace of sorrow in your eyes

Now, the things that I remember seem so distant and so small
Though it hasn't really been that long a time
What I was seeing wasn't what was happening at all
Although for a while our path did seem to climb

When you see through love's illusions, there lies the danger
And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool
So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger
While the loneliness seems to spring from your life

Like a fountain from a pool

Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light
You've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight
You've had to hide sometimes, but now you're all right
And it's good to see your smiling face tonight

Now, for you and me it may not be that hard to reach our dreams
But that magic feeling never seems to last
And all the future's there for anyone to change, still you know it seems
It would be easier sometimes to change the past

I'm just one or two years and a couple of changes behind you
In my lessons at love's pain and heartache school
Where if you feel too free and you need something to remind you
There's this loneliness springing up from your life

Like a fountain from a pool

Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light
You've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight
You've had to hide sometimes, but now you're all right
And it's good to see your smiling face tonight

Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light
You've known that hollow sound of your own steps in flight
You've had to struggle, you've had to fight
To keep understanding and compassion in sight
You could be laughing at me, you've got the right
But you go on smiling so clear and so bright

And all you've got to do
(Bend down low) Oh yeah! Let me tell you what I know
Bend down low, let me tell you what I know oh yeah!

You keep on knockin', but you can't come in
I get to understand you been livin' in sin
But if you love me, woman, walk right in
I've got a notch for your safety-pin

Bend down low, let me tell you what I know now
Bend down low, let me tell you what I know, yeah

I say, keep on knockin', but you can't come in
I get to understand you been livin' in sin
But walk right in, woman, sit right down
I will keep on lovin' you I play the clown

But bend down low, baby, let me tell you what I know
Bend down low, let me tell you what I know, yeah!

A letra:

On a night like this
So glad you came around
Hold on to me so tight
And heat up some coffee grounds
We got much to talk about
And much to reminisce
It sure is right
On a night like this

On a night like this
So glad you're here to stay
Hold on to me, pretty miss
Say you'll never go away to stray
Run your fingers down my spine
Bring me a touch of bliss
It sure feels right
On a night like this

On a night like this
I can't get any sleep
The air is so cold outside
And the snow's so deep
Build a fire, throw on logs
And listen to it hiss
And let it burn, burn, burn, burn
On a night like this

Put your body next to mine
And keep me company
There is plenty a room for all
So please don't elbow me

Let the four winds blow
Around this old cabin door
If I'm not too far off I think we did this once before
There's more frost on the window glass
With each new tender kiss
But it sure feels right
On a night like this

A letra:

Motion pictures on my TV screen
A home away from home, living in between
But I hear some people have got their dream

I've got mine

I hear the mountains are doing fine
Morning glory is on the vine
And the dew is falling, the ducks are calling

Yes, I've got mine

And all those people, they think they got it made
But I wouldn't buy, sell, borrow or trade
Anything I have to be like one of them
I'd rather start all over again

Well, all those headlines, they just bore me now
I'm deep inside myself, but I'll get out somehow
And I'll stand before you, and I'll bring a smile to your eyes
Motion pictures, motion pictures

(This is a story about your friend and mine
Who is it, who is it, who is it?)

There you stand with your L.A. tan
And your New York walk and your New York talk
You're mother left you when you were small
But you're gonna wish you wasn't born at all

Steel and glass, steel and glass
Steel and glass, steel and glass

Your phone don't ring, no one answers your call
How does it feel to be off the wall

Well your mouthpiece squawks as he spreads your lies
But you can't pull strings if your hands are tied

Well your teeth are clean but your mind is capped
You leave your smell like an alley cat

Steel and glass, steel and glass
Steel and glass, steel and glass

The years go by, you lose your pride.
The baby's crying, so you do not go outside,
And all your work it's right before your eyes.

Goodnight, my darling, I hope you're satisfied,
The bed is kind of narrow, but my arms are open wide.
And here's a man still working for your smile.

A letra:

World is turnin'
I hope it don't turn away
The world is turnin'
I hope it don't turn away

All my pictures are fallin'
From the wall where I placed them yesterday
World is turnin'
I hope it don't turn away

I need a crowd of people, but I can't face them day to day
I need a crowd of people, but I can't face them day to day
Though my problems are meaningless, that don't make them go away
I need a crowd of people, but I can't face them day to day

I went to the radio interview, but I ended up alone at the microphone
I went to the radio interview, but I ended up alone at the microphone
Now I'm livin' out here on the beach, but those seagulls are still out of reach
Went to the radio interview, but I ended up alone at the microphone

Get out of town, think I'll get out of town
Get out of town, think I'll get out of town
I head for the sticks with my bus and friends
I follow the road, though I don't know where it ends
Get out of town, get out of town, think I'll get out of town

'Cause the world is turnin'
And I don't want to see it turn away

Revelation, reveals the truth, Revelation

(Revolution, revoution, revolution, revolution)

It takes a revolution (revolution) to make a solution
Too much confusion, so much frustration, yeah
I don't wanna live in the park (live in the park)
Can't trust no shadows after dark, yeah (shadows after the dark)
So my friend I wish that you could see
Like a bird in the tree, the prisoners must be free, yeah

Never make a politician, grant you a favour
They will always want to control you forever (forever, forever)
So if a fire make it burn,
And if a blood make it run, yeah

Rasta there up on top, can't you see,
So you can't predict the flop, yeah
We got lightning (lightning), thunder (thunder), brimstone (brimstone) and fire, fire (fire, fire)
Lightning (lightning), thunder (thunder), brimstone (brimstone) and fire

Oh yeah, fire, oh yeah

Kill, cramp and paralyse all weak at conception

Wipe them out of creation (creation), yeah (creation)
Oh! Let i'es is i'es (i'es), in i'es is black (i'es),
In i'es is red (i'es), in i'es is dread, yeah

Let rightousness cover the earth
Like the water cover the sea, yeah, yeah
Lightning (lightning), thunder (thunder), brimstone and fire
Lightning, thunder...

1415 – Bob Dylan – Going, going, gone (1974)

Rick Danko tocou baixo. Levon Helm tocou bateria. Garth Hudson tocou orgão elétrico. Richard Manuel tocou piano e Robbie Robertson tocou a guitarra elétrica. Foi regravada por Jerry Garcia, Gregg Allman e Doyle Bramhall II, entre outros artistas.

A letra:

I’ve just reached a place
Where the willow don’t bend
There’s not much more to be said
It’s the top of the end
I’m going, I’m going, I’m gone

I’m closin’ the book
On the pages and the text
And I don’t really care
What happens next
I’m just going, I’m going, I’m gone

I been hangin’ on threads
I been playin’ it straight
Now, I’ve just got to cut loose
Before it gets late
So I’m going, I’m going, I’m gone

Grandma said, “Boy, go and follow your heart
And you’ll be fine at the end of the line
All that’s gold doesn't shine
Don’t you and your one true love ever part”

I been walkin’ the road
I been livin’ on the edge
Now, I’ve just got to go
Before I get to the ledge
So I’m going, I’m just going, I’m gone

David Crosby tocou guitarra ritmica. Rick Danko tocou baixo. Levon Helm tocou bateria.

A letra:

Well, we live in a trailer at the edge of town
You never see us 'cause we don't come around
We got twenty five rifles just to keep the population down

But we need you now, and that's why I'm hangin' around
So you be good to me and I'll be good to you
And in this land of conditions I'm not above suspicion

I won't attack you, but I won't back you

Well, it's so good to be here, asleep on your lawn
Remember your guard dog? Well, I'm afraid that he's gone
It was such a drag to hear him whining all night long

Yes, that was me with the doves, setting them free near the factory
Where you built your computer, love
I hope you get the connection, 'cause I can't take the rejection
I won't deceive you, I just don't believe you

Well, I'm a barrel of laughs, with my carbine on
I keep them hoppin', till my ammunition's gone
But I'm still not happy, I feel like there's something wrong

I got the revolution blues, I see bloody fountains
And ten million dune buggies comin' down the mountains
Well, I hear that Laurel Canyon is full of famous stars
But I hate them worse than lepers and I'll kill them in their cars

1413 – John Lennon – #9 Dream (1974)

John, May Pang, Lori Burton e Joey Dembra fizeram nacking vocals. Ken Asher tocou clavinet. Jesse Ed Davis tocou guitarra. Nicky Hopkins tocou piano elétrico. Arthur Jenkins tocou percussão. Jim Keltner tocou bateria. Bobby Keys tocou sax. Eddie Mottau tocou violão e Klaus Voorman tocou baixo.

A letra:

So long ago
Was it in a dream, was it just a dream?

I know, yes I know
Seemed so very real, it seemed so real to me

Took a walk down the street
Through the heat whispered trees

I thought I could hear (hear, hear, hear)
Somebody call out my name (John) as it started to rain (John)

Two spirits dancing so strange

Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé

Dream, dream away
Magic in the air, was magic in the air?

I believe, yes I believe
More I cannot say, what more can I say?

On a river of sound
Through the mirror go around, around

I thought I could feel (feel, feel, feel)
Music touching my soul, something warm, sudden cold
The spirit dance was unfolding

Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé

Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé
Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé

A letra:

And who by fire, who by water
Who in the sunshine, who in the night time
Who by high ordeal, who by common trial

Who in your merry merry month of may
Who by very slow decay
And who shall I say is calling?

And who in her lonely slip, who by barbiturate
Who in these realms of love, who by something blunt
Who by avalanche, who by powder

Who for his greed, who for his hunger
And who shall I say is calling?

And who by brave assent, who by accident
Who in solitude, who in this mirror
Who by his lady's command, who by his own hand

Who in mortal chains, who in power
And who shall I say is calling?
