Escrita por Rudolf Schenker e Klaus Meine, foi gravada entre outubro de 1979 e fevereiro de 1980 e lançada em 31 de março de 1980, no disco Animal magnetism, o sétimo disco da banda. Foi produzida por Dieter Dierks. Lady Starlight é a única música da discografia do Scorpions a ter cordas e orquestra. Klaus Meine cantou. Rudolf Schenker tocou guitarra base, violão e guitarra solo. Francis Buchholz tocou baixo e Herman Rarebell tocou bateria. Adele Arman e Victoria Richard tocarram violinos. Paul Arman tocou viola. Richard Arman tocou cello. Charles Elliot tocou double bass. Melvin Berman ocou oboé. George Stimpson e Brad Wsmaar tocaram french horns.
