Escrita por Bruce Springsteen, foi gravada em 13 de julho de 1975 e lançada em 25 de agosto de 1975 no disco Born to run. Foi lançada também em compacto, com She's the one como Lado B. É a segunda música do disco. A canção conta a história da formação da banda deles, a E Street Band. O protagonista da canção, Bad Scooter, é um pseudonimo pra Bruce Springsteen. Inclusive tem as mesmas iniciais. No terceiro verso, ele diz: Big man joined the band, se referindo à Clarence Clemons, o saxofonista da banda. Bruce fez os arranjos dos instrumentos de sopro juntamente com Steve Van Zandt. O compacto no entanto não vingou, chegando apenas ao número 83 do Billboard Hot100.
