Quando lançada em outubro de 1970 como compacto que tinha Take me to the pilot como Lado B, chegou ao número 8 nos charts pop americanos e número 7 no Reino Unido.

Em 1998, ganhou entrou pro Grammy Hall of Fame. É a canção de número 137 das 500 maiores canções de todos os tempos da revista Rolling Stone.
