Escrita
pra inclusão no disco Let it be.
A
canção mostra a influencia da Band na composição, depois de
Harrison ter passado uma temporada com eles e Bob Dylan em Woodstock,
New York, no final de 1968. Harrison teve The weight como ins piração
pra essa canção e sempre imaginou Levon Helm cantando-a. Para
letra, ele se inspirou em Timothy Leary no livro Psychodelic Prayers
after the Tao Te Ching.
George
Harrison cantou, tocou violão e fez backing vocals. Eric Clapton fez
backing vocals e tocou violão. Pete Drake tocou pedal steel. Billy
Preston tocou piano. Bobby Whitlock tocou harmonium e fez backing
vocals. Klaus Voormann tocou baixo. Ringo tocou bateria e pandeiro.
Jim Gordon tocou bateria Bobby Keys tocou sax. Jim Price tocou
trumpete, trombone e fez os arranjos do sopro. John Barham fez os
arranjos das cordas.
A
letra:
Sunrise
doesn't last all morning.
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must
pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass away
Sunset doesn't last all
evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must
pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass away
All things must
pass
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day
Now the darkness only
stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey
All things must
pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away
