New Orleans foi o primeiro hit da carreira de Gary U.S. Bonds. Inclusive foi nos discos promocionais dessa musica que vinham escritos os dizeres “Buy U.S. bonds”, tendo Gary Anderson, então com 19 anos, recebido o apelido de Gary U.S. Bonds.

New Orleans chegou ao numero 6 dos charts americanos em 17 de outubro de 1960. Foi escrita por Frank Guida e J, Royster, foi produzida por Frank Guida e gravada em Norfolk, Virginia.
