784 – Steppenwolf – The pusher (1968)

Escrita por Hoyt Axton, foi gravada no outono de 1967 e lançada em 1968 em um compacto que tinha Your wall's too high como Lado B. Ela ganhou notoriedade quando apareceu no filme Easy Rider, de 1969. A letra fala da diferença entre um vendedor de drogas leves e um vendedor de drogas pesadas.

Foi regravada pelo próprio Hoyt Axton em 1971, por Nina Simone em 1974, pelo Blind Melon em 1996, entre outros artistas.

Escrita por Howard Kaylan, Mark Volman, Al Nichol, Jim Pons e John Barbata, foi lançada em setembro de 1968 num compacto que tinha Surfer Dan como Lado B. É uma sátira ao maior hit deles, Happy Together.

Chegou ao número 6 dos charts pop americanos e numero 7 no Reino Unido, além de numero 4 no canadá, número 8 na Austrália e número 1 na Nova Zelandia.

Foi regravada por Gianni Morandi, Dean Torrance (de Jan and Dean), entre outros artistas.

Escrita por John Lennon, mas creditada à dupla Lennon/McCartney, foi composta na Índia, gravada em 13 de agosto de 1968 e lançada no Album Branco em 22 de novembro de 1968.

John disse que enquanto queria encontrar Deus e estava tendo pensamentos suicídas, ele quis escrever um blues. Ele faz alusão à insegurança, falando em Mr. Jones, da música de Bob Dylan Ballad of a thin man.

John cantou, fez backing vocals e tocou guitarra solo. Paul tocou baixo e gritou. George Harrison tocou guitarra solo. Ringo tocou bateria.

Escrita por Mick Jagger e Keith Richards, foi gravada em maio de 1968 e lançada em agosto de 1968 em um compacto que tinha Street fighting man como Lado A. O slide de violão de Brian Jones foi uma das suas maiores contribuições dele antes de deixar a banda.

Mick Jagger cantou, Brian Jones tocou violão slide, Keith Richards tocou violão, Bill Wyman tocou baixo, Charlie Watts tocou claves e Nicky Hopkins tocou piano.

Escrita por Roger Waters, foi gravada 7 e 8 de agosto de 1967 e janeiro de 1968 e lançada em 29 de junho no Reino Unido, no disco A Saucerful of Secrets. É a única canção que tem partes gravadas pelos cinco membros da banda, uma vez que tem guitarras de Syd Barrett e de David Gilmour.

Roger se baseou num livro de poesia chinês para criar a letra.

Roger Waters cantou, tocou baixo e gongô. Richard Wright tocou orgao, vibraphone e celesta. Nick Mason tocoubateria. Syd Barrett e David Gilmour tocaram guitarra.

779 – The Beatles – The continuing story of Bungalow Bill (1968)

Escrita por John Lennon mas creditada à dupla Lennon/McCartney, foi gravada em 8 de outubro de 1968 e lançada em 22 de novembro de 1968 no Album Branco.

A canção é uma gozação com um jovem americano chamado Richard A. Cooke III, conhecido como Rik, que estava visitando a mae, Nancy Cooke de Herrera no centro onde os Beatles estavam tambem na India, com o Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Nancy conta que fez amizade com todos menos com John Lennon, que segundo ela, era um genio mas que corria longe dos ricos americanos, no caso ela e seu filho.

O que aconteceu foi que mãe , filho e mais outros, sairam pra caça tigres, montados em elefantes. Uma tradição local, diziam eles. No meio da caçada, um tigre avançou sobre os elefantes e Rik rápido no gatilho, abateu o tigre com um tiro. No momento, ficou orgulhoso, tirou foto e tudo. Mas depois ficou com remorso por ter matado o animal.

Quando voltaram pro centro de meditação e contaram a história, John começou a tirar onda. E fez a música zombando do rapaz, dizendo que ele havia saído de um centro de meditação, tinha matado uns tigres e voltado pra conversar com Deus.

Yoko Ono cantou uma frase, o que fez dela a unica pessoa fora do Beatles a ter cantado algo de maneira solo, em uma música dos Beatles, sem ser backing vocal.

John tocou violão, cantou, tocou orgao e Mellotron. Paul tocou baixo e fez backing vocal. George Harrison tocou violão e fez backing vocal. Ringo tocou bateria, pandeiro e fez backing vocal. Chris Thomas tocou Mellotron. Yoko Ono cantou e fez backing vocals. E Maureen Starkey fez backing vocals.
