524 – Simon and Garfunkel – Scarborough Fair (1966)

Eles gravaram um disco chamado Encores from the Abbaye.

Antes de Paul Simon conhecer a música, Bob Dylan pegou a melodia emprestada pra criar Girl from the North Country, de 1963.

Foi regravada por Andy Williams, Sergio Mendes, Sarah Brightman, entre outros artistas.

A letra:

Are you going to Scarborough Fair:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt:
On the side of a hill in the deep forest green.)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme;
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested brown.)
Without no seams nor needle work,
(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine.
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.)

Tell her to find me an acre of land:
(On the side of a hill in the sprinkling of leaves.)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme;
(Washes the grave with silvery tears.)
Between the salt water and the sea strands,
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun.)
Then she'll be a true love of mine.
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.)

Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather:
(War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions.)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme;
(Generals order their soldiers to kill.)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather,
(And to fight for a cause they have long ago forgotten.)
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Are you going to Scarborough Fair:
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.

523 – The Beach Boys – Sloop John B. (1966)

The Wrecking Crew fez a parte instrumental.

A letra:

We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the Cap'n's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
(Hoist up the John B's sail)
Hoist up the John B
I feel so broke up I wanna go home
Let me go home

The poor cook he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home

522 – The Beatles – For no one (1966)

No final acaba dizendo: “A love that should have lasted years”.

Paul cantou, tocou baixo, piano e clavicord. Ringo tocou bateria, maracas e pandeiro. Alan Civil tocou a corneta francesa.

A letra:

Your day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all the words of kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you

She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind her tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You want her, you need her
And yet you don't believe her when she said her love is dead
You think she needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind her tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You stay home, she goes out
She says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone
She doesn't need him

Your day breaks, your mind aches
There will be times when all the things she said will fill your head
You won't forget her

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind her tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

521 – The Rolling Stones – Mother's little helper (1966)

A frase de início diz: “What a drag it is getting old”.

Eles dizem: “Kids are different today/I hear every mother say/Mother needs something today to calm her down/And though she's not really ill, there's a little yellow pill/She goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper/And it helps her on her away, get's trough her busy day”.

E continua em uma frase: “Doctor, please/Some more of these/Outside the door/She took four more”.

Com a experiencia deles com drogas, eles fazem um alerta: “And if you take more of those/You will get an overdose/No more running for the shelter of a mother's little helper/They just helped you on your way/Through you busy dying day”.

Bill Wyman tocou baixo. Charlie Watts tocou bateria. Jack Nitzsche tocou “Niitsche-Phone”.

A letra:

What a drag it is getting old
"Kids are different today,"
I hear every mother say
Mother needs something today to calm her down
And though she's not really ill
There's a little yellow pill
She goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day
"Things are different today,"
I hear every mother say
Cooking fresh food for a husband's just a drag
So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak
And goes running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And two help her on her way, get her through her busy day
Doctor please, some more of these
Outside the door, she took four more
What a drag it is getting old
"Men just aren't the same today"
I hear every mother say
They just don't appreciate that you get tired
They're so hard to satisfy, You can tranquilize your mind
So go running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
And four help you through the night, help to minimize your plight
Doctor please, some more of these
Outside the door, she took four more
What a drag it is getting old
"Life's just much too hard today,"
I hear every mother say
The pursuit of happiness just seems a bore
And if you take more of those, you will get an overdose
No more running for the shelter of a mother's little helper
They just helped you on your way, through your busy dying day

520 – Bob Dylan – Rainy day woman #12 & 35 (1966)

A letra:

Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone ya when you're walkin' 'long the street
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to keep your seat
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' on the floor
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' to the door
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

They'll stone ya when you're at the breakfast table
They'll stone ya when you are young and able
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to make a buck
They'll stone ya and then they'll say "good luck"
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, They'll stone you and say that it's the end
Then they'll stone you and then they'll come back again
They'll stone you when you're riding in your car
They'll stone you when you're playing your guitar
Yes, but I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

Well, they'll stone you when you walk all alone
They'll stone you when you are walking home
They'll stone you and then say you are brave
They'll stone you when you are set down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned.

519 – The Beatles – Here, there and everywhere (1966)

A posição de Here, there and everywhere no disco Revolver fica depois de Love you to e antes de Yellow Submarine. É como se domesticasse o erotismo de Love you to pois vinha uma música de criança logo após.

Foi regravada por Emmylou Harris, George Benson, Petula Clark, Perry Como, John Denver, Celine Dion, Jose Feliciano, Jery Garcia, Bobbie Gentry, The Lettermen, Andy Williams, David Gilmour, entre outros tantos artistas.

Paul tocou baixo, fez os vocais principais, violões e estalou os dedos. John fez backing vocals e estalou os dedos. George Harrison tocou guitarra solo, fez backing vocals e estalou os dedos. Ringo tocou bateria e estalou os dedos.

A letra:

To lead a better life I need my love to be here...

Here, making each day of the year
Changing my life with the wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there's something there

There, running my hands through her hair
Both of us thinking how good it can be
Someone is speaking but she doesn't know he's there

I want her everywhere and if she's beside me
I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there

I want her everywhere and if she's beside me
I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there

I will be there and everywhere
Here, there and everywhere

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy.

Hello lamppost,
What cha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain't cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in' doo-doo,
Feelin' groovy.

Got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep.
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me.
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.

517 – The Beach Boys – Wouldn't it be nice? (1966)

Brian então fez a música e Tony a letra.

Nessa, a história mudou.

A letra:

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Happy times together we've been spending
I wish that every kiss was neverending
Wouldn't it be nice

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do
We could be married
And then we'd be happy

Wouldn't it be nice

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldn't it be nice

Good night my baby
Sleep tight my baby

In our yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

And our friends are all on board
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

{Full speed ahead, Mr. Boatswain, full speed ahead!
Full speed it is, Sgt.!
Cut the cable, drop the cable!
Aye, sir, aye!
Captain, captain!
As we live a life of ease (A life of ease)
Everyone of us (Everyone of us) has all we need (Has all we need)
Sky of blue (Sky of blue) and sea of green (Sea of green)
In our yellow (In our yellow) submarine (Submarine, ha, ha)

515 – The Rolling Stones – Under my thumb (1966)

Mick Jagger cantou e bateu palmas. Keith Richards tocou guitarra elétrica. Brian Jones tocou biloão e marimba. Bill Wyman tocou baixo e baixo fuzz. E Charlie Watts tocou bateria.

Foi regravada por Del Shannon, The Who, Blind Faith, The Kingsmen, Tina Turner, entre outros artistas.

A letra:

Under my thumb
The girl who once had me down
Under my thumb
The girl who once pushed me around
It's down to me
The difference in the clothes she wears
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Ain't it the truth babe?

Under my thumb
The squirmin' dog who's just had her day
Under my thumb
A girl who has just changed her ways
It's down to me, yes it is
The way she does just what she's told
Down to me, the change has come
She's under my thumb
Ah, ah, say it's alright

Under my thumb
A siamese cat of a girl
Under my thumb
She's the sweetest, hmmm, pet in the world
It's down to me
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Ah, take it easy babe
Yeah
It's down to me, oh yeah
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Yeah, it feels alright

Under my thumb
Her eyes are just kept to herself
Under my thumb, well I
I can still look at someone else
It's down to me, oh that's what I said
The way she talks when she's spoken to
Down to me, the change has come,
She's under my thumb
Say, it's alright.
Say it's all...
Say it's all...
Take it easy babe
Take it easy babe
Feels alright
Take it, take it easy babe.
